Ponyo On the Cliff By The Sea

One of the rare occasions in which the picture looks almost exactly the way I thought it would... well, almost.

Insanely Zany Artist Notes-----------------------

This is less a "DVD-Release-style" as it is a movie-poster style advertisement. Sorry, that's just how I think: being a movie-making-sort-of-person.
The intention was to give a unique and "grand" look at the basic premise behind the movie. Obviously the majestic score is what made it look so "epic".

Seriously! Listen to the soundtrack and look at this painting! I think it works!

I also drew the characters as on-model as I could: because of course its the movie that's being promoted, and its best to stay as true to the idea, concept, and "look" at least of the main characters as possible.

Actually I think this would be better as the music album cover, as it more accurately reflects the epic scope of the music, rather than the playful almost child-created world of the film's visual style!

Thanks to Joe Hisaishi's very lovely work on the soundtrack of the film of the same name, which inspired this "poster" 100%.

I enjoyed painting this (from scratch) and will upload a bigger version sometime soon!
